"Eric S. Dreiband is returning to Jones Day from the Justice Department, becoming the latest in a string of lawyers to be rehired there after serving in President Donald Trump’s administration." - Elizabeth Olson, Bloomberg Law, February 4, 2021.
This is a time when many Trump Administration loyalists, especially if they stayed through the final days, are having difficulty landing work.
However, those who previously had been employed as partners at law firm Jones Day have been successful in securing good jobs. Dreiband had been Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division in Justice. At Jones Day he will be a partner in the labor, employment and government regulation practice.
Previously, also circling back to Jones Day had been Chad Mizelle, Don McGahn and Noel Francisco.
Unlike a number of law firms which have distanced themselves from Donald Trump, Jones Day has remained tight with him and his network. Since Trump doesn't seem ready to retire from public life or business, there could be lots of business ahead for this law firm. There could be a new Trump power center forming in Florida.
