What is known is this: Michael Evans committed suicide by hanging on March 17, 2020. He had been heading the Manhattan Penn Station Moynihan Train Hall renovation project.
Suicide remains a mystery. Those who posit causes indulge in speculation. Sometimes the motivation for that is political.
The New York Post has published an article presenting theories that Evans' death was associated with pressure from New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo about the initiative. In the coverage, other views also are presented.
However, it's a desecration of the memory of those who take their own lives to assume that "loose ends" can be tied up. A life and the decision to end it are too complex.
All that should appear in the media is a celebration of that life. In one school of zen, the mantra is: Clear thinking, don't know.
