Before "Roe v Wade" pregnant women who were sophisticated and had the financial resources would travel to Europe for abortions.
Now, according to the data from the National Bureau of Economic Research, they are willing to travel an average of 157 miles if "Roe v Wade" is overturned, reports Bloomberg. That would be to a state in which abortion remained legal, despite any federal ban or restrictions. The report also indicated that births could rise 4.2%. One could assume that not all of them would be wanted.
Traveling for an abortion in the 21st century in an advanced capitalist economy seems like a cruel skit that would be featured on "SNL." That sort of thing seems like it would only be standard in third world nations with roots in Roman Catholicism. Sophisticated cultures such as in much of Europe would scratch their heads about what American legal powers that be think they are doing.
That would be to a condition in which abortion stayed lawful, despite any government ban or limitations.
