"The snitch winds up in ditch."
Back in grade school and those ethnic neighborhoods of the 1950s, the ethos was: No tattle-tales. No, you don't go up to the teacher or the cop and disclose the alleged misdeeds of others.
The ongoing drama surrounding former lawyer/fixer for Donald Trump Michael Cohen could be changing the perception of the role of rat. If his tattle-telling results in the fall of the House of The Trumpettes, rats could become anti-heroes.
After all, it was the ratting of Gretchen Carlson which brought down the House of Ailes at Fox News. And, if that didn't create #MeToo, it certainly provided a solid platform for it to grow into a global ah-ha moment. Society has rewarded Carlson with new kinds of career opportunities.
And, aren't investigative reporters such as Ronan Farrow, rats?
Maybe there should be created National Rats Day. The message will be to dig up a wrong to rat on. Workers would come forward and rat out those hindering their advancement through age bias. When is the last time an over-50 you knew got promoted?
