For some reason, those tragic figures dominate the legal profession. Recently, at Abovethelaw, lawyer-journalist Kathryn Rubino featured some of the worst-behaving lawyers.
The latest among the worst-behaving lawyers is Harvard Law School graduate and former California immigration lawyer Matthew Muller. He has been sentenced to 40 years for kidnapping Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn.
As the Sacramento Bee reports, in Judge Troy Nunley's court, the victims recounted how the trauma hasn't abated. And the trauma went beyond the crime itself, which included rape.
Initially police classified all this as a hoax. The media ran with it. The victims then were consumed in another kind of ordeal.
Just as the lone survivor of the fatal Connecticut home invasion, William Petit, the two can't shake the experience. Although Petit has put together a new life, he still has nightmares.
One wonders if lawyers, so used to operating within the power structure of the law, become delusional. They might then assume that they can get away with anything.
