If we decide we want to ponder some analysis of a Twitter Storm, we can roam without charges or gatekeepers to other social media sites such as, well, this blog.
Way back in 2006, Dan Gilmor predicted this in his breakthrough book "We the Media." Thanks to the internet, any and all of us could create our very own platform or multiple platforms for power and influence.
In fact, some of us who went about building those platforms became designated influencers. Thought leaders and marketers wanting attention come to us to have their say and/or feature their products and services. Yes, we are paid and let you know that the material is sponsored content.
Establishment media can huff and puff but it can't blow down Trumpville. Or any of the other forms of what was called "citizen journalism." And currently are simply known as The Influencers.
What will happen to establishment media?
Most of my clients don't care much. What they want us to brainstorm about is how collectively Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and their own websites and blogs can own the territory in lobbying for a cashless society or selling engagement rings to single professional women.
