Some threats of legal action are more titillating in what they might disclose than others. Now that ousted Fox Public Relations head Brian Lewis has retained attorney Judd Burstein, we are all ears and eyes.
As GAWKER reports, Burstein indicates that he is "still plotting our course of action." So, there is as yet no strategy. But, he adds, "Roger Ailes and Newscorp have a lot more to fear from Brian Lewis telling the truth about them than Brian Lewis has to fear from Roger Ailes and his toadies telling lies about Brian Lewis."
That's right. There could be a lawsuit against that Roger Ailes who took no crap from internal whistleblower Joe Muto. Eventually Muto was hauled into court in handcuffs and had to surrender the $5,000 fee for his expose for GAWKER to charity. The message clearly was: Don't mess with Ailes, et al. at Fox.
Maybe the team of Lewis + Burstein will be able to send a different message. One that says that the gang at Fox has become vulnerable. Meanwhile, this could be the most watched employment matter since Aaron Charney sued his BigLaw employer Sullivan & Cromwell in 2007, got a settlement, and went on to get another job in BigLaw. Never say never when it comes to what legal action can accomplish.
