Everything changes. There was a time when, as the bankrupt READERS DIGEST had championed, laughter was considered the best medicine. Now, it's against the law, at least in Rockville Centre, New York.
Robert Schiavelli is considered disabled because of neurological impairments. He suffers seizures. He self-medicates through laughing. Unfortunately, reports THE NEW YORK POST, the police have issued him two tickets for disturbing the peace. His neighbor complained about the laughter. Each violation involves a $250 fine or 15 days in jail.
Could the right to laugh loud emerge as a cause? Schiavelli's lawyer Andrew Campanelli could make a name for himself in this battle and both could wind up laughing their way to the bank.
