The default in America had been for wounded families to seek healing through lawsuits. That might be changing.
The family of Tyler Clementi, who committed suicide after Dharun Ravi videoed him in a gay encounter, will not file lawsuits, reports THE NEW YORK POST. They could have gone after deep pockets like Rutgers University where the harassment took place. Maybe the family could have even gone after the powers that be which maintain the George Washington Bridge, which Clementi leapt from, for not having safeguards against suicide.
Instead the Clementi family has established a foundation in their son's name.
