The rate of suicide is higher for lawyers than that of the general population. So the question is always out there about the particular variables which might drive lawyers to make that irreversible decision.
Although Stephanie Becker is not a lawyer, her leap from a tall building in Manhattan at age 28 adds to that mystery of why. From the accounts in the media, this IBM employee had it all. Her background included an MBA from New York University. Her social network was huge. She was seen as upbeat.
My prayers are with Stephanie and her family.
I dont think she felt the stress of being a high achiever and her many activities, she was well too equiped to handle.
Something doesn't sound right.
I cannot believe she would take her own life.
