It is well known that those in the legal sector have a higher-than-average rate of mental illness, along with substance abuse and suicide. Well, lawyers, now you can feel a bit better about things, knowing you have company.
In Sweden, the research institution Karolinsky has confirmed that there is a high incidence of severe mental illness among writers. FISHBOWL carries that story which is really no newsflash to us scribes. Anyone with talent has struggled with some kind or kinds of psychiatric disorder. The news, if there is any in this finding, would be that so many of us do manage to make a good living, keep our editors and clients happy, and even live the lives of solid citizens.
