The debate is on. Yuba City, California paid George Louie $15,000 to stop filing nuisance lawsuits against it and local businesses on the grounds that they were violating the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Some consider the move dumb. The city claims that this is a one-time payment and no one else will be paid to stop filing lawsuits of any kind. But, even if that works out the way the city wants, it still won't stop copycat moves in other cities. After all, we humans learn through imitation.
I will have to cruise New Haven, Connecticut for seeming violations of the ADA. I know enough about the legal system to put together several pro se complaints. Any $15,000 payment for me to stop will be most welcome. Yale Law School is also based in New Haven. Maybe this got some students there thinking.
