In a brilliant move, former real estate attorney and current U.S. Senator from Massachusetts Scott Brown has positioned himself as a member of the 47-percent. As POLITICO reports, this conservative who is running for re-election against populist Elizabeth Warren disclosed that his family had once been on public assistance.
In itself that neutralizes some of Warren's fire power as an advocate of the middle class. It also bestows on Scott the aura of the underdog, even though he is the incumbent. As America struggles to come back from a devastating economic downturn, it is searching for new heroes. The enduring superhuman Superman, Larry Tye tells us in his new book by that title, was put together during The Great Depression. He continues to resonate in the American collective unconscious and consciousness because he represents that the drive to make the world safe from evil can triumph over the cunning of the villains.
Scott could emerge as the Superman in the U.S. Senate.
