Those fluttering around that cause framed it with all the right New Age buzzwords. The timing was also just right since local production and consumption were anointed as green.
On the west coast, where myriad game-changing ideas emerge, one lawyer said, "Hey, let's look at the potential for E-coli." He was and is Bill Marler of Marler Clark Law Firm. Here is a presentation he had made in 2006 about raw milk Download 2006IAFPRawMilk.
Time has proved Marler right. He is now helping raise funds for Doernbecher Hospital. The cause is to purchase two 24-hour blood pressure monitors. Other major participants in that fundraising are two children who had almost died from E-coli after they had consumed raw milk. Here is their story.
Marler started the ball rolling with a $5000 contribution. If you want to join in, you can contact Doernbecher or Marler email@example.com.
My hunch is that, despite near tragedies like this with raw milk, there will be another wave of the fight for freedom from processing of beverages and food. This will be the expected kinds of push-back from angry, frustrated consumers who feel powerless against BigGovernment, BigFood, and BigPharma. That will happen unless they can let off steam during this presidential campaign season.
