No, becoming a geezer like myself (Download Geezerguts) won't end the ordeal of student loans.
My fellow geezers who borrowed for education to "get ahead" or even "get a job" and couldn't pay those loans are having their Social Security checks docked by the federal government.
SMART MONEY reports that from January to August 6th, the feds have collected about $115,000 from Social Security checks. The piece taken out could be as much as 15%. So, say the monthly check is $1000. That means that even before the month starts, you're out $150.
This week I am investing in improving my credentials by taking an online course with Lynda.com. I need to become smarter about the smartphone. That will set me back $25 but fortunately I won't need to apply for a student loan.

No offense, but I am glad that the federal government is going after their social securities. As a 25 year old, I will never be able to benefit from social security because it will be used up before I can even use it. I have student loans as well and I pay them off. It is absurd if these people think that they can get away with borrowing and not repay. If part of my pay check goes to these irresponsible people, I expect them to pay for there decision.

Awesome post. In my opinion, they should really stop doing that because somehow and in some way that is a violation of the amendment.
