The GOP brand used to mean: United, disciplined, reserved. No more. On the national level, Mitt Romney isn't even trying to make nice with the Tea Party and its high profile leader Sarah Palin.
Here in Connecticut in the U.S. Senate race, the very WASPY Christopher Shays, who had been a U.S. Representative for decades, is dumping on his opponent for the primary Linda McMahon, reports POLITICO. That media outlet is reporting on that because it's such atypical GOP behavior. Also, in the state the GOP party is the underdog.
Whoever wins the August primary will have to face off against the popular Democrat Chris Murphy. In social media, he is running a smart campaign. The e-mail I get from his office is conversational, to the point, and hits on something I am or should be concerned about.
The only hope for the GOP is that through his keynote address at the RNC, Governor from New Jersey Chris Christie can pull the party back together again. A few weeks ago, influential THE ECONOMIST did the present administration a big favor by having as its cover story the American economy as the Comeback Kid.
