The fashion world's alleged ugly underbelly comes to light in a lawsuit filed this week in New York Supreme Court about the hostile work environment at Marc Jacobs.
According to John Cook at GAWKER, former top executive Patrice Lataillade contended he was fired when he complained at Marc Jacobs about having to view gay porn and do a pole dance. Lataillade, who is straight and married, paints a picture of a workplace dominated by the alleged norms and rituals of a sort of gay mafia. The president of the company Robert Duffy is gay and married to Alex Cespedes.
If this gets to trial, will the plaintiff be made to demonstrate pole dancing, as required by the company, and will the gay porn be an exhibit? Media will have to line up at dawn to get a seat at that lawsuit.
