The way in for most of us is through some back door. This could be Metro D.C.-based lawyer's way in or back into practicing in the profession. The WASHINGTON EXAMINER is hiring freelancers to write about the business side of real estate in the D.C. area. The ad states you don't have to be a lawyer but you have to know what you're talking about and have sources or could develop them.
Talk to enough people, and sure, you will be invited into a real estate practice or you can fly solo or small in that niche. Going through the front door is harder and harder for those of us who aren't in the Lucky Sperm Club. Incidentally, Cate Edwards, who graduated Harvard Law School, seems to be a member of that club. She is clerking for federal court in Alexandria, Virginia and owns a row house in the area.
Here are the details and how to apply.
More than a hint. I have not a chip on my shoulder but a boulder.
