Outside the Law: My Lecture on Career Transition at NY State Bar Association

Today I addressed the New York State Bar Association about how to shift from practicing law to career paths outside the law.  Here is the lecture Download LectureNYSBA.

My observations? Those attracted to the legal profession tend to pile on other degrees.  Unfortunately, the current marketplace seeks more from less, including credentials.   In addition, former lawyers seem to lack training in how to sell themselves - or they could just still be reeling from the shock of losing a job.  Today's program confirmed for all of us what a devastating experience job loss is.  Recovery seems to be gradual.
