U.S. Representative Patrick Kennedy, who has had his struggle with addiction, seems to have learned to take care of himself. His father U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy died last week.
In THE PROVIDENCE JOURNAL, Steve Peoples reports that the Congressman from Rhode Island "has canceled all public events this week, including a forum on national health-care reform expected Thursday." One of the slogans in recovery programs for those with substance-abuse problems is: Easy Does It. It is heartening that this man who comported himself with such dignity and strength at his father's funeral mass seems to have taken that wisdom to heart. Kennedy's eulogy showed him a leader of the new generation of Kennedys.
