Magic Healing in Michigan - All but one asbestos suit pulled
This is a story of magic healing in Michigan. When Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Robert Colombo, Jr. decided to conduct a hearing on the doc - Michael Kelly - who was certifying myriad asbestos lawsuits all but one of the plaintiff lawsuits were pulled.
That could end the story for this state which has been one of the last hold-outs in the asbestos lawsuit scam. Recently, the Ohio Supreme Court threw two more wrenches in the works for such lawsuits to proceed in that state and the ramifications will probably be felt in other states.
Dr. Kelly, who is not a radiologist or pulmonologist, reports today's THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, could just be allowed to ride home quietly from the gold mine. He was paid by plaintiff attorneys $500 for each person he screened. Over 15 years he has confirmed 7,323 cases of asbestos-related disease.
But, some tort reformers want more. They encourage Judge Colombo to go ahead with the investigation of Dr. Kelly. In fact, some contend "courts have a responsibility to investigate."
