All the King's Men watchers have noticed that Dickie Scruggs owns a house in the Bahamas. Because of it, during his arraignment U.S. Attorney Tom Dawson requested that bond be set at $5 million. With his private jet, it would have been easy for Scruggs, Dawson argued, to skip town.
Well, watchers have also noticed that Ole MISS Chancellor Robert Khayat is vacationing for about a month in the Bahamas. Kahayat wrote a letter on Ole MISS letterhead stationary to Judge Biggers pleading for compassion in the Scruggs' sentencing. That letter has become the center of controversy.
It may be just coincidence that both Scruggs and Kahayat are partial to the Bahamas. Also, there is no information available yet where Kahayat is staying during his vacation. But that should change soon as the media check that out.
