NY AG Cuomo - Spitzer w/o Demons

The universe was smiling on Andrew Cuomo.  It banished him to the political wilderness.  There he seemed to have exorcised the kinds of demons that brought down Eliot Spitzer and other pols with promise.  As New York Attorney General Cuomo is making most of the right moves.

For instance, John O'Brien reports in LEGAL NEWSLINE that Cuomo just wrapped up a successful probe of attorneys who illegally received public benefits, ranging from health care to pensions. And he did it quick.  The investigation began in February.  Now the attorneys are settling with Cuomo. In addition, he's extending  the probe to 70 more upstate attorneys and 20 based in Long Island.  The public interest has been served.

Earlier Cuomo stole the hearts of parents struggling to pay college tuition when he broke open the student-loan fraud. He knew just how hard to press the investigation of Troopergate.  He got passed the collapsed marriage to a Kennedy.  And he has a sixth sense about what state AG lawsuits to join and which to stay out of.

Depending on his next moves, Cuomo could be a formidable enemy or powerful ally for tort reform.
