Monday was the deadline for a plea bargain and just under the wire, Dickie Scruggs took a deal - as was widely expected. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy as did his law partner. It's unknown at this time if his other law partner his son Zach will also take a deal or go to trial.
The expected sentence for Scruggs is about five years vs. the max of 75 years he faced had he went to trial and lost.
Here are some comments about Mississippi Earwigging and the Scruggs Litigation.
