Wall Street on "Thomas" Verdict for Defense
In their coverage of the "Thomas" verdict BLOOMBERG reporters Jef Feeley and Jeanette Hurt interviewed Gene Pisasale, a manager for the $77-billion PNC Capital Advisors.
Pisasale observes that this victory for the defense, "reinforces the contention that the plaintiffs are making an old argument that doesn't seem to be winning most juries." Pisasale notes that analysts following the lead-paint defendants essentially have the take that they should only be found responsible for damages if they "knowingly put a hazardous substance in their paints with the knowledge it would likely harm people" and not for any harm that could have happened if someone ingested a chipping lead paint.
Feeley and Hurt report that this win was the fourth since June for the lead-paint makers and that the "Thomas" jury only deliberated a little more than five hours.
