Has the lead paint saga, playing since the late 1990s, reached the tipping point? Could be. And that could have happened when Max Rothal, who incidentally is the law director of Akron, Ohio, withdrew the city's lawsuit against the former lead paint companies. That lawsuit had been filed in October against 8 former lead-paint companies. Today, an editorial in THE AKRON BEACON JOURNAL-TRIBUNE BUSINESS NEWS praised Akron for taking "the responsible course in thinking again about suing paintmakers."
Tipping Point 101: Malcolm Gladwell showed us how little things can be just the things which change a fad or a trend into something big, really big. Gladwell explains all this quite nicely in his 2008 book "The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference." Once the situation reaches the tipping point, it has its own momentum.
Hunch: It could essentially be irrelevant to the lead paint saga what Judge Michael Silverstein rules in the landmark Rhode Island lead paint trial II - if the tipping point has been reached.
